Keukenkriebels - an educational game about careers in the food industry for Ter Groene Poorte
Keukenkriebels is an educational game concept developed by Wakaaro on behalf of Ter Groene Poorte. The game takes pupils aged 10 to 14 on a tour of the school's various departments, introducing them to food, food-related training programmes and careers in the food industry in a playful way.

The challenge
A school visit to Ter Groene Poorte leaves a lasting first impression, but Ter Groene Poorte was looking for a way to ensure that visit continued to have an impact in the classroom afterwards. The brief: to develop something that teachers could use straight away after the visit, linked to specific learning objectives, and broad enough to be suitable for more than just a food education lesson.
The solution
Wakaaro developed Keukenkriebels as an escape room in card game format, built around the story of Sam and Robin, who are looking for inspiration for their birthday party. Pupils work together to solve puzzles and riddles to complete the escape room. Throughout the game, a variety of topics are covered, linked to specific learning objectives, meaning the game is not only suitable for nutrition lessons but can also be used in subjects such as maths and geography, or simply played as a game in its own right.
Wakaaro has also included teaching ideas for teachers with the game, so that they can get started with Keukenkriebels quickly and without much preparation.

Result & impact
Since then, Keukenkriebels has been provided to classes visiting Ter Groene Poorte, thereby extending the impact of the school visit well into the classroom. Thanks to its links to learning objectives across various subjects, the game also finds its way into the classroom beyond food education lessons.
